Board Structure of (SAWA)

At SAWA, our leadership is composed of passionate and dedicated women who work together to ensure the success of our mission to empower women in agriculture. Each member of the board plays an essential role in steering the association toward achieving its goals, creating opportunities for women, and advocating for their needs in the agricultural sector.

  1. Chair Lady: The Chair Lady is the heart of SAWA. She provides overall leadership, vision, and direction to the organization. With her experience and commitment, she ensures that all programs and initiatives align with the mission of empowering women in agriculture. The Chair Lady’s role is to inspire the board and represent the organization in key meetings and forums.
  2. vice Chair: The Vice Chair supports the Chair Lady in all leadership matters and is ready to step in as the Chair Lady in her absence. The Vice Chair focuses on managing the day-to-day operations of the board and coordinating with different committees to ensure all projects are progressing smoothly. She is also actively involved in strengthening partnerships and advocating for women’s rights in agriculture.
  3. General Secretary: The General Secretary is the key communicator and organizer for the board. She ensures that meetings are scheduled, agendas are prepared, and minutes are accurately recorded and distributed. She is responsible for keeping all board members informed about important updates, decisions, and developments. Her role is essential to maintaining smooth communication and transparency within the organization.
  4. Finance Officer: The Finance Officer is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of SAWA. She manages the budget, ensures financial transparency, and ensures that the organization’s funds are used effectively and responsibly. The Finance Officer works closely with the Treasurer to track income, expenses, and other financial matters to guarantee that SAWA remains financially stable and accountable.
  5. Treasurer: The Treasurer is responsible for managing the financial assets of the association. She works with the Finance Officer to track all monetary transactions, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial records. The Treasurer ensures that funds are being used efficiently and ethically to achieve SAWA’s goals. She also works on fundraising initiatives to support the organization’s programs.
  6. Teacher and training officer: plays a vital role in building knowledge and skills within SAWA and the wider community. She delivers educational sessions on agricultural practices, environmental sustainability, and rural development. She also organizes training workshops for farmers, especially women and youth, to improve their productivity and livelihoods. The Teacher and Training Officer ensure that learning is accessible, practical, and empowering, supporting SAWA’s mission of community development and agricultural advancement.
  7. Public relation and partnerships officer: plays an essential role in promoting SAWA’s image and building strong relationships with stakeholders. She is responsible for communicating the organization’s goals, activities, and successes to the public through various media channels. She also develops partnerships with local and international organizations to support SAWA’s programs and expand its impact. The Public Relations and Partnerships Officer ensures that SAWA remains visible, trusted, and well-connected in the field of agricultural and community development
  8. Marking and agribusiness officer: plays a key role in linking farmers and producers to profitable markets. She supports SAWA’s mission by developing market strategies, identifying business opportunities, and helping farmers add value to their agricultural products. She also  provides training on agribusiness skills, product packaging, and market access. The Marketing and Agribusiness Officer ensures that rural communities can increase their incomes and build sustainable farming businesses.
  9. Irrigation and water management officer: plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient and sustainable water usage for agricultural purposes. She is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining irrigation systems that support crop growth and improve water efficiency. She also provides training to farmers on water conservation techniques and the importance of sustainable water management practices. The Irrigation and Water Management Officer ensures that agricultural activities are optimized for both productivity and environmental sustainability.
  10. Policy and Planning Officer: The Policy and Planning Officer is responsible for leading the development, review, and implementation of SAWA’s policies, strategic plans, and programs. This role involves conducting research, analyzing data, and providing evidence-based recommendations to support informed decision-making. The officer plays a key role in aligning organizational activities with SAWA’s mission, vision, and long-term goals.
